UNA MANERA DIFERENTE DE HABITAR LA CIUDAD
LUGAR_CERO es un proyecto articulado por la iniciativa de Casa Vecina-Espacio Cultural y sus colaboradores externos, con el propósito de experimentar la diversidad de matices en la conexión del arte actual con la ciudad y sus habitantes. Se trata de una propuesta curatorial que surge después de llevar a cabo una investigación más amplia en torno al arte vinculado a diferentes dinámicas sociales y culturales del Centro Histórico de la Ciudad de México. A partir de estas experiencias, consideramos que los espacios urbanos son lugares idóneos para el acontecer artístico, ya que justo ahí, el intercambio creativo y reflexivo se torna más intenso, no solamente por las posibilidades amplias de encuentro con los que habitan o visitan nuestra ciudad, sino también por el desafío a las fronteras entre el arte y la vida diaria citadina.
LUGAR_CERO es un proyecto itinerante que busca ocupar –compartir, habitar- temporalmente diferentes lugares del Centro Histórico, y su punto de partida es el Atrio de San Francisco. Los tránsitos pausados dentro del espacio físico de la ciudad y sobre todo, los movimientos y las variaciones en las formas de relacionarnos con el arte, son el fundamento del proyecto que estamos realizando.
Siguiendo estas direcciones, LUGAR_CERO se desarrolla simultáneamente en tres niveles espaciales: el que explora el contexto urbano como la base para las intervenciones artísticas; el que comprende la construcción de información y conocimiento concretándose en nuestro Centro de Investigación; y el espacio virtual de la página web LUGAR_CERO que reúne la información y las múltiples interpretaciones sobre las creaciones que proponemos. Los tres niveles propician maneras diferentes de encuentro con el público. El primero –la intervención artística en el espacio urbano- es la raíz que da origen a los otros dos, igualmente importantes, y cuya función es recoger las resonancias que provoca el arte actual en su interacción con el entorno.

AN ALTERNATIVE WAY TO INHABIT THE CITY
LUGAR CERO is a project coordinated by the initiative of Casa Vecina-Espacio Cultural and its external partners in order to experience the diversity of nuances in the connection of Contemporary Art to the city and its inhabitants. It is a curatorial proposal that emerges after carrying out an extensive investigation about art when linked to different social and cultural dynamics of the Historical Downtown of Mexico City. From these experiences, we consider that urban spaces are suitable, ideal, places for artistic activity to take place, since it is right there that creative and thoughtful exchange becomes more intense, not only by the extensive possibilities of meeting with those living or visiting our city but also by challenging the boundaries between art and everyday life rules.
LUGAR CERO, is an itinerant project looking forward to temporarily occupy –to share, to inhabit–, different Historical Downtown spaces, and its point of departure is the Atrium of San Francisco. The slowed down transits within the physical space of the city and, above all, the movements and variations in the ways in which we interact with art, are the foundation of the project we are carrying out.
Following these guidelines, LUGAR CERO is developed simultaneously in three spatial levels: the one that explores the urban context as the basis for artistic interventions; the one that includes the construction of information and knowledge, taking shape in our Research Center ; and the virtual space of the website –Lugar Cero– that collects the data and the multiple interpretations of the creations that we propose. The three levels provide different ways of meeting the public. The first one –the artistic intervention in urban space–, is the root that gives rise to the other two, equally important, and its function is to collect the resonances caused by Contemporary Art in interaction with the environment.
